| | This project is a single-family residence addition that includes a new kitchen, entry area and mudroom. The client’s desire and architectural response is to create an energetic, light-filled environment for their young family to cook, eat, study and play in addition to creating a stronger indoor/outdoor connection so the outside feels like a part of the interior. The solution is to derive the material and color palette by studying and extracting colors, shapes and materials from paintings and weavings present in the owner’s home. The design is an open, spacious kitchen connecting the dining area with high ceiling and windows allowing more daylight to reduce electrical consumption and to create a warm inviting feeling.
